This is what passes for Journalism and Trade Unionism in T&T

The caption reads:

“KNEE-JERK ACT:
In a scene reminiscent of a white policeman killing African American George Floyd, Seamen and Waterfront Trade Union president Michael Annisette places his knee on the neck of a protestor who shouts ” I can’t breathe” during a protest Tuesday at the dockyard in Port of Spain over stalled negotiations with government.”

Wooosah!!! Serenity now!!

I don’t even have the words to say just how insensitive, vile, despicable, morally reprehensible, irresponsible, putrid and stink this display is.

This is one of the reasons I have a very low opinion of unions in general but particularly in this country.

It is also high time we have some sort of functioning regulatory body to hold media practitioners and media companies accountable and to set a minimum bar of journalistic standards. If we already have one well padna you not doing your wuk.

As a Trini I’m disgusted and ashamed as this is a national paper with international reach.
